With the huge boom in easily and relatively affordably technology, it’s really not a huge surprise that there are now computers exclusively for children.

They come with a range of features that are primarily designed for a parent’s peace of mind.  They range from limiting websites save for a small group, to extended parental controls.

They cost a bit more than the parent’s versions, but many are convinced they are more than worth the extra money due to the extra peace of mind that they provide.

Others think that the whole trend is ridiculous, that kids shouldn’t (regardless of safety precautions) have their own computers.

No matter where on the spectrum one falls, it does seem that the specialized technology is going to be around for the long haul.    They do serve a purpose, especially with most schools wanting things typed up, and the unsurpassed research ability of the internet.
