Most parents want to instill a sense of ethics, morals, and spirituality in their children. Whether we take our cues from the Bible, The Torah, The Koran, or from our own personal set of beliefs, we strive to teach our kids right from wrong, to help them develop compassion and respect for others, and to give them a sense of faith and purpose. While that’s not easy to do when children are young, it’s never too early for parents to start laying down foundations for a spiritual life.

Youngsters with rich spiritual lives are less likely to have mental-health problems. Participation in communities of faith seems to provide protection against depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders.

*It keeps kids connected: Nurturing relationships are essential for healthy brain development and physical and emotional well-being. Faith based communities give kids an enormous sense of belonging. They connect children to caring people of al ages, who can share their love, wisdom, and values.

*It teaches coping strategies: Rituals like ligthning a candle for the sick or donating to the food pantry can shepherd children through stressful situations. Such rituals give kids a sense of control and make them feel there’s something they can do to help others.

*It cultivates confidence. :Being part of a community that’s focused on helping others makes a child feel valued, which boosts self-esteem. Children need a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives  and they can find this through our savior Jesus Christ. Let’s always remember the saying “A family that prays together, stays together”
