It’s not really a secret that sugar isn’t the best thing in the world for you, and it’s known for some energy boosting effects and some inches it can add to one’s waistline.  While many of the tales of woe are true, some don’t really take much stake in reality. In small doses, it really can be a part of a great diet, but too much isn’t good for growing bodies.

Sugar doesn’t really effect how hyperactive a child is, and time and time again the ‘sugar rush’ many are familiar with, simply isn’t real.  While too much sugar won’t matter in the ways of activity levels, is isn’t good for the body and can still add on inches and lead to obesity.

All sugars are similar, and while some are looked at as ‘good sugars’ (think: fruits and veggies), the sugar itself is the same.  There is a huge reason to give children fruits and veggies though as they are good for you (even with the sugar content, which is lower than the content of candy).

The sugar content in many of those granola bars are surprisingly close to the sugar content in a candy bar, and they are many times far smaller than the candy bar as well.  All in all, they really aren’t much healthier than the sweet counterparts, instead think about making your own (as a bonus, they are incredibly easy to make).
