Mothers get a bad rap at times, with many of us being pictured as   scary women who spend as much time playing with our kids and harping on that mom from down the block.

Considering the debate about bottle vs breast such a hot topic normally, the mothering mag Mother & Baby maybe should have given a bit more thought when deputy editor Kathryn Blundell decided to publish an piece on why she chose to bottle feed her children. The article that caused the outrage titled “I formula fed. So what?” has already garnered her a surprising amount of both supporters and detractors.  Among the press it has received comes both a huge show of support and a lot of angry people.

The article has also prompted a Facebook campaign supported by about 600 , and at least six complaints to the Press Complaints Commission.

Not too bad press-wise for a single article.

Among the Facebook group’s posts is a large outcry from moms who are put off by by the July 2010 edition (in which the article appeared) and are asking for the deputy editor to apologize and the magazine to support moms who breastfeed as well as bottle feed.

What do you think?  Was what Kathryn said okay, or should she have given it a bit more thought?
