There is a lot of guilt felt by mothers who work.  While even when it’s a necessary thing, or mom just want to- it’s easy to still feel guilty.  However, a new study shows that moms who return to work after having children don’t do any harm.

Surprisingly, when mom works it may actually do a lot of good for them and their children.

In a story about the study posted by the Telegraph:

The researchers tracked the development and family characteristics of more than 1,000 children aged up to seven from 10 different parts of the US.

As well as examining factors like family relationships and household income, they assessed children’s vocabulary, reading ability and academic test scores, and asked teachers and parents to rate their behaviour.

Working mothers had better mental health, were able to build healthier relationships within the family, and boosted the household income – all of which aided the child’s development, the researchers found.

So, maybe at least for work-related matters moms can rest a bit easier knowing that they aren’t harming their children.  Even with popular culture and others who may say the opposite, science has shown that working is a good thing for you and your kids.
