Taking care of your newborn can be a nerve-racking experience. Not only does it make you realize what an enormous responsibiltyit is to keep her safe and sound, but it’s scary because your child is too young to give you any feedbacks she can’t say to you like “mama, I’m hungry, or You’re cutting my nails too short! Luckily, you can make even the most delicate tasks much easier for you and your baby. Here are the gentlests ways to care for your little one from head to toe:

  • Cleaning ears – As you’re bathing your baby, dip a washcloth in warm water, then wrap a portion to yout finger.Clean only as much of your child’s ear as you can reach with your finger, and don’t enter the ear canal. If the area behind the ears is scaly or flaky, ask your doctor about it.
  • Cleaning Genitals- For boys: clean it gently with a washcloth , warm water and a mild soap. For girls: spread the labia gently and clean only as  much as you can reach with a washcloth-covered finger tip.
  • Trimming nails-  You can use cuticle scissors or the soft side of an emery board. Do it while your baby is sleeping if he won’t keep still. Don’t cut it too short because you might hurt your little one’s finger.
  • Suctioning the nose – When your baby is stuffy, you can unplug her nose with a nasal syringe. Put your child in her car seat or elevate her crib mattress by putting pillow underneath it.

As a parent, keeping your baby warm and nourished should be on your top list. But baby skin care is just as important.

Your infant’s delicate skin requires lots of tender treatment. You need to pamper and protect her from head to toe. Their skin is pure, supple and very sensitive that’s why they need the mildest touch.

How to Clean your infants:

  • Stick to sponge baths until your newborn’s umbilical-cord stump falls off.
  • Do not use adult soaps on your baby. This may cause dryness and irritations especially when your child’s prone to eczema.
  • Mild body washes and shampoos are good for infants. If rashes appear, go to your pediatrician immediately.
  • You can bathe your infant every other day to prevent dry skin. Always make sure that you clean her diaper area frequently and wipe the drool from her chin to prevent irritation.Don’t use baby products during the first few months. Their immune system is just developing and they are prone to have asthma or allergies if products are used.
  • To remove the cradle cap, you can use baby oil and gently rub it on your newborn’s scalp and leave it for 10 minutes. Using a wet washcloth or soft comb, wipe away the loosened scale.

It is also important that you give your infant a gentle massage for a healthy skin. It makes them feel loved and accepted. This massage triggers hormones that will help boost immunity, and fight sickness. Simply put baby oil or lotion in your hands and then gently rub it in your infant’s chest and tummy.

When I was in preschool, I hated taking a bath. I feel that it’s taking too much of my so called “precious playing time”. My mom has to bribe me with stuff so that I’ll go inside the bathroom, but sometimes it really doesn’t work.

So now, I’ll give all the parents out there some few tips to make your child enjoy taking a bath.

  • Some kids are naturally afraid of water. So try to covert their fears into something fun. Bubbles make all kids crazy! try making bubbles with your little ones. Be creative, use your hands or maybe sticks with holes on it.  I’m sure they’ll look forward to your next bathing session.
  • Use soap and shampoo that won’t hurt their eyes. I’ll assure you that that there will be less crying time.
  • Tub toys are welcome during their bathing time. They will surely enjoy the squeaky sounds. If  they want to bring their own toys (doll, barbie, robot etc.) Let them!. You can wash your child’s hair and let them do it with their toys. The next time you bathe your child, ask him what’s the first thing you should do. Before you know it, your kid knows how to take a bath my himself.
  • Taking a bath should be fun for kids. No pressure just pure fun.

You see bathing your child is as easy as 123. Make your child enjoy it with you. You’ll see when they grow up, they’d always remember how you’ve been such a fun mommy and daddy to them.  Here are some squeaky tub toys that will make your bath time more enjoyable. These cute bath toys will make your child’s bathing time worthwhile. You can also use these toys to teach them the different kinds of animals and also the sounds that they make.
